A preschool built on 20+ years of early-years expertise.

One shared belief: early childhood is sacred ground. We've brought together decades of classroom and outdoor experience to create something special for Victoria.

Park Lane Preschool is the culmination of a career spent championing early years — and a homecoming for our founder, Miss Kristin.

After more than two decades leading, teaching, and inspecting early-years practice in the United Kingdom — and owning and operating four preschools, one of which was awarded the UK-wide Preschool of the Year — Miss Kristin has returned home to Victoria with a simple idea: bring the very best of English EYFS practice to the Pacific Northwest, and marry it with the wild, wonderful land we live on.

We believe preschool should do more than prepare children for kindergarten. It should light a fire of curiosity they carry for the rest of their lives. So we blend rigorous early literacy and phonics instruction with child-led nature school and a social-emotional programme grounded in research. The result is a curriculum that's both deeply joyful and quietly ambitious.

We combine aspects of the Early Years Foundation Stage, BC's Early Learning Framework, Montessori, and inquiry-based learning — to create a dynamic, nurturing environment where young minds flourish.

Our philosophy

Every child is a curious, capable learner. Our role is not to pour knowledge in, but to create the conditions — the time, space, materials, and relationships — in which children can discover the world and themselves. We call it purposeful play: play that looks like joy and learns like science.

Our values

  • Curiosity above all. We nurture the questions, not just the answers.
  • Nature as co-teacher. The forest, garden, and shoreline are our second classroom.
  • Words open worlds. Early literacy and language are foundational, not optional.
  • Feelings first. A child who feels safe and seen is a child ready to learn.
  • Small, on purpose. Low ratios. High warmth. Every child known by name, strength, and story.

Miss Kristin

Founder · Early Literacy Lead

Kristin holds a B.Ed and a Masters in Education, and brings over 20 years’ experience in Early Years as a class teacher, Principal, Communication Language and Literacy Development Consultant, and award-winning preschool owner/director. She is passionate about providing outstanding Early Years education because of the lifelong impact those first years have on a child. Kristin has owned and operated four award-winning preschools in the UK; her centre won “Preschool of the Year” at the Nursery World Awards and was rated “outstanding” by Ofsted inspectors. Ofsted praised her children for “exemplary behaviour,” “impressive early writing skills,” and the ability to “self-regulate and problem-solve together,” while Nursery World judges described the setting as “wonderfully thoughtful and respectful of children.” Her preschools have been featured in the Telegraph, Daily Mail, Mirror, and on ITV’s Lorraine — with the Daily Mail calling one of them “a school fit for the royals.”
