A day at Park Lane.

Four pillars, one rhythm. Our days flow between literacy, nature, creative expression, and social-emotional learning — with time to just be a child.

Our curriculum

Built on four foundations.

Our teaching team brings a shared belief in the quiet power of the Early Years.

Every day at Park Lane

is an invitation to wonder.

Four pillars, thoughtfully woven together. Below, a closer look at each — what it means, what it looks like in practice, and how it shapes the way your child learns.

Nature School

Rooted in wonder.

Our Nature School — guided by an award-winning Outdoor Canada Play teacher — connects children with the natural world and inspires dynamic outdoor learning that ignites curiosity, creativity, and environmental stewardship.

We prioritise unstructured play, letting children engage deeply with their surroundings, think freely, and explore the world in imaginative ways. Natural treasures — pinecones, acorns, shells, feathers — come back into the classroom to anchor literacy, numeracy, and art.

Montessori, Inquiry & the Early Years

A blended approach.

We thoughtfully weave together principles from Montessori, inquiry-based learning, and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to create a curriculum that goes far beyond traditional practice.

Montessori principles foster deep independence, concentration, and practical life skills. Inquiry-based learning brings a rich culture of curiosity — encouraging children to ask questions, explore ideas, and develop global awareness. The EYFS underpins it all with robust foundations in communication, language, social skills, emotional wellbeing, and early literacy and numeracy.

Enriched with hands-on science, seasonal investigations, and long-term living projects — like hatching chicks — children witness life cycles first-hand and develop awe, responsibility, and scientific thinking from the start.

Inquiry-based learning Questions, exploration, global awareness.
EYFS framework Communication, wellbeing, early literacy & numeracy.

Early Literacy

The foundations of a lifelong reader.

We recognise the crucial role early literacy plays in a child's development. Strong foundations in communication, phonics, and mark-making prepare children for all the learning that follows.

Through structured phonics instruction, shared reading and writing, and guided literacy lessons, children develop phonemic awareness — nurtured through small-group sessions and personalised one-to-one support.

Phonics Daily, structured, age-appropriate.
Shared reading Rich story-time that builds vocabulary and imagination.
Small-group sessions Guided literacy lessons tailored to each child.
Mark-making The first building blocks of confident writing.

Social-Emotional Learning

Feelings, friendships, and finding their voice.

We believe in the importance of a warm, nurturing environment where children feel safe to be themselves. Our classroom-based Kimochi program supports social and emotional learning — teaching children to understand their feelings, communicate them peacefully, build positive relationships, manage conflict, and make friends along the way.

These are skills that matter long after preschool ends — the quiet groundwork of a confident, kind, self-assured child.

Kimochi curriculum Evidence-based social-emotional learning.
Conflict resolution Gentle tools for navigating big feelings.
Friendship skills Taking turns, empathy, and belonging.
A safe space Warm, consistent, and emotionally attuned.
The result

School-ready, and so much more.

Together, our four pillars create an outstanding early-years environment where children aren't just ready for school — they are genuinely confident, capable, inquisitive learners with a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
